Hiya! How is everyone this beautiful Monday? After two days straight of gray skies and rain, I am ecstatic to see the sun is shining once again! What’s it like where you are?
My week is starting out INSANE!!!!!! (in a good way!) I went over to my friend Mary Anne’s house to work out and we did the first workout in the INSANITY series! This was my first experience with INSANITY and I am telling you, it will KICK YOUR TAIL!!!!!!! We were supposed to do this workout last week, but Mary Anne had broken her toe, so we stayed with something that didn’t have much plyometrics involved. Well, now the toe is better, so we got INSANE!!!!! This is one workout series that I’ve GOT to add to my collection!
When the weather is like the way it was this past weekend, it’s sometimes hard to figure out what to do with ourselves. I don’t mind staying in sometimes, but most of the time, Courtney and I gotta get out! Greg, on the other hand, is perfectly content with chilling out on the couch or fiddling around with his military simulation games on the computer. We all stayed in on Saturday, with the exception of my and C’s afternoon karate class.
I did promise you a throwback to the 80′s in the title of this post, so here it is! We all went roller skating! We have a super cool skating rink about 10 minutes or so from where we live. For the first few years we lived here, we had no idea it was even there! We went for the first time two years ago. It was C’s first time then and she loved it! When I walked in, it really took me back! I used to go roller skating every Friday night with my two best friends. My father would always be the one to take us. While we skated for 2 and a half hours, he would sit in one of the booths and read his book and listen to all the 80′s music. (He’s wasn’t a fan of it, still isn’t…….he’d much rather be listening to Opera!!!) Greg and I were surprised that skating is just like riding a bike….once you learn how, you never forget! We probably look like total geeks holding hands when we skate around the rink, but we don’t mind; we’re just having fun! Courtney has gotten really good at skating since we first went. She even got skates of her own for her birthday last year! What a great way to spend a rainy afternoon…..and get in a little exercise while you’re at it!!! (Sorry about the blurry pics….they were taken with C’s Ipod. I guess no flash and not enough light = blurry pics!)
Speaking of the 80′s here’s a picture from an old family photo album that my parents had brought over a couple of years ago. If Cabbage Patch Kids don’t SCREAM 80′s, I don’t know what does!
One more thing….a warm and comforting bowl of taco soup for dinner! This delicious recipe comes from “For The Love of Cooking”. I made mine vegetarian, but you could also thrown in some ground turkey.
Have you tried the INSANITY! workouts? What do you think?
How do you and your family like to spend a rainy day?
Did you have Cabbage Patch Kids when you were growing up?
